Overview

Semester Two – deepens and strengthens the foundations established in the first term, guiding students toward a more balanced, informed, and mature understanding of Islamic knowledge. Building upon sound belief and correct worship, this semester emphasizes moderation in creed, consistency in acts of worship, and deeper engagement with the Qur’an and Sunnah. Students advance in Aqeedah through classical texts that clarify methodology and balance, while fiqh studies expand to include major obligations that shape communal and personal responsibility. Continued study of Tafseer and Arabic enhances comprehension of revelation, and sustained focus on Hadith, spiritual refinement, and the Prophetic biography nurtures both inner character and outward practice. Together, these studies prepare students for more analytical and advanced learning in the semesters ahead.

Tafseer & Arabic (Deeper Understanding)

Tafseer 2 advances students’ engagement with the Qur’an through the continued study of Tafseer As-Sa‘di, covering Surah Al-Mujadilah to Surah At-Tahreem. These surahs address important themes related to social conduct, family life, moral responsibility, and obedience to Allah and His Messenger ï·ș, illustrating how faith governs personal behavior and community relationships. Through clear explanations and practical reflections, students gain a deeper appreciation of the Qur’an’s guidance and its relevance to real-life situations.

Alongside this, Arabic 2 further develops grammatical understanding through the study of sentence structures, i‘rab (inflection), and linguistic connectors. This stage strengthens students’ ability to follow Qur’anic expressions more accurately, recognize grammatical patterns, and engage with classical texts with greater confidence. Together, Tafseer and Arabic in this semester work in harmony to enhance comprehension, precision, and a more meaningful connection to the language of revelation.

Aqeedah (Creed & Balance)

Semester 2 builds upon the foundations of belief by deepening students’ understanding of Islamic creed through the study of Aqeedah Al-Wasatiyyah by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah. This course emphasizes the balanced and principled methodology of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaah, presenting a clear framework for understanding Tawheed, the names and attributes of Allah, and the realities of faith. Students are guided through classical explanations that safeguard belief from extremism, distortion, and innovation while remaining firmly rooted in the Qur’an and Sunnah.

Through this study, students learn how sound Aqeedah is preserved through moderation, strong textual evidence, and adherence to the understanding of the Salaf (early generations). The course also addresses common misconceptions and deviations, equipping students with the ability to recognize errors in belief and respond to them with knowledge and clarity. By the end of the course, students develop a more mature, confident, and balanced approach to matters of creed that strengthens both their faith and intellectual grounding.

Fiqh (Acts of Worship & Obligations)

In Fiqh 2, students continue their structured study of Islamic jurisprudence through Akhsar al-Mukhtasarat by Ibn Balban, focusing on the major acts of worship that organize and shape a Muslim’s religious life. Building upon earlier lessons, the course covers the detailed rulings of Zakat, fasting, and Hajj, guiding students through their conditions, pillars, obligations, and invalidators. This ensures that students gain a clear and systematic understanding of these foundational acts of worship.

Strong emphasis is placed on recognizing the textual evidences, underlying principles, and spiritual wisdoms behind each ruling, helping students move beyond memorization to informed practice. Through this approach, students develop confidence in fulfilling their obligations correctly, consistency in worship, and a deeper appreciation for the mercy and balance of Islamic law as it applies to daily life.

Hadith, Tazkiyah & Prophetic Biography

Semester 2 continues to nurture the heart and refine character through a focused study of prophetic guidance and spiritual development. In Hadith 2, students memorize and study additional narrations from Imam An-Nawawi and Ibn Rajab, reinforcing key principles of faith, worship, and ethical conduct. These hadith provide practical guidance for daily life, helping students align their actions, intentions, and behavior with the teachings of the Prophet ï·ș.

 

Alongside this, Tazkiyah 2, based on the works of Ibn al-Qayyim, deepens students’ understanding of the soul, sincerity, and inner accountability. Students explore how spiritual diseases are treated and how acts of worship impact the heart when performed with awareness and humility. Complementing these studies, the Seerah introduces students to the life of the Prophet ï·ș, allowing them to connect their learning to lived examples of patience, resilience, leadership, and moral excellence. Together, these subjects shape character, strengthen faith, and inspire practical application of knowledge.
